7U & 9U (aka Rookie or Coach Pitch)
7U is the next step after T-Ball. In coach pitch, the coaches of each team will pitch to the opposing team and with the intent of allowing the hitters to hit, or put the ball in play, rather than attempting to strike the batter out. We will decide each season based on the number/experience level of the kids and parents preferences whether or not to join the Pembina League.

RULES & REGULATIONS
DIAMOND LAYOUT
a) An 8 ft. diameter safety circle shall be marked off directly in front of home plate and its centre shall be 45 ft. from home plate. No player is permitted to enter the safety circle, which is considered a dead ball area. Enter means that any part of the body enters the safety circle.
c) All bases shall be 45 ft from Home Plate. First base must be a safety base (orange & white).
PLAYING RULES
a) The coach pitches to their own team. Can be overhand or underhand.
b) Each player is given 6 pitches. After 6 pitches are thrown and a child hasn't hit the ball yet a coach may call him/her out or bring in the pitching T and they can hit off of that.
c) A team shall be comprised of a minimum of 7 players,
d) Each team shall field a catcher, a first baseman, a second baseman, a third baseman, 2 shortstops and 1 pitcher in the line-up. A team may play as long as it has 7 players at the game. If it drops to 6 or few players at a game, then the game is forfeited to the other team. A practice game may be played at the coach’s discretion.
e) All Rookie Ball baseball games shall be 3-5 innings or 1 hour and 15 minutes. 3 innings shall constitute an official game.
f) All batters must wear a helmet and shoes.
g) All back catchers are required to wear a mask with throat protector, helmet, chest protector and shin guards during a game.
h) There maybe a 5 run-3 out inning rule in place. The last batter will always make it to home plate. This also teaches the kids that not everyone gets to bat every inning.
i) Batting order must be rotated every game so players will have equal batting time.
j) A coach/manager may only communicate positive instructions to his/her players on the field.
k) Batters at Rookie Ball must drop the bat and not throw it (intentionally or unintentionally) upon hitting the ball. Each team shall be entitled to one warning per game. After the warning, any further offences by a team shall result in the batter being declared out, the ball being dead and runners returning to their bases.
UMPIRES
a) No umpires are required for this level. Coaches control the game.
